Born in Salem, Oregon in 1979, Scott grew up with a natural inclination towards the kitchen, often watching his mom bake cookies. His culinary journey began early, albeit with a small mishap involving stitches from cutting carrots. This early experience, however, did little to deter his enthusiasm. Instead, it fueled his passion for creating and experimenting with food. As an adult, Scott ventured into the IT world, working night shifts that led him to explore cooking out of necessity and passion. During the early hours, when pizzerias were closed, Scott began baking his own pizzas, perfecting the craft with a dedication that only a true food enthusiast could muster.

Scott’s culinary adventure soon led him to open his own restaurant and pizzeria, The Ivy Bear. Located near the picturesque Mt. Hood, The Ivy Bear is renowned for offering a “from scratch” dining experience that rivals any across the nation. Scott’s commitment to quality is evident in every aspect of the restaurant’s operation. The Ivy Bear makes its own pepperoni, Canadian bacon, and Italian sausage; shreds cheese in-house; and crafts a unique pizza sauce using only tomatoes, wine, and a select blend of spices. This dedication to handmade excellence is a testament to Scott’s passion for authentic, carefully crafted food.

Inspired by the fresh ingredients and vibrant flavors he worked with at The Ivy Bear, he founded Scott’s Pepper House in 2024.
